Union Glacier (SCGC) - Arrival

ATC Route (NZFX-SCGC)

*The Red section of the route above is the STAR / Approach coding to the runway. This will allow you to uplink the full custom STAR/Approach if using Simbrief or PSX.

There are three significant issues flying into SCGC:

1. There are no publicly available charts for SCGC.

2. There are no instrument approaches to any runway.

3. The airport elevation is 2480’.

We have mitigated these to the best of our ability.

To simplify operations the only active runway will be RWY 18.

Procedures

The procedures below are custom designed for WorldFlight 2025 using publicly available information. They are for Flight Simulation Only. Thank you to Cali-Crew for their help with the approach chart.

Cold Weather Correction!

If your simulator simulates cold weather you must add a cold weather correction to the GC222 and RW18 altitudes shown.

We simulated SCGC at -18c and needed to add 600ft to GC222 and RW18.

Therefore, after cold weather correction:

Cross GC222 AT 4300ft

Cross RW18 AT 2980ft

For a more information on Temp correction, please see a full guide from Simon Kelsey here - https://tinyurl.com/2aba6wxz

SCGC VOR/DME Approach. (Xplane)

For XPlane users only! using the scenery linked at the top of this page. The scenery adds the GCU VOR as is custom made and not native to Xplane.

This approach is designed for aircraft unable to fly the custom RNAV approach.
It will not work in any Toliss aircraft.

Union Glacier (SCGC) - Departure

ATC Route (SCGC-SCCI)

To minimize enroute delays and reroutes, all jet aircraft must plan via the route below:

7930S8430W 7575W 7074W 6572W 6071W 5670W ALMIR V115 NAS

Expect PDC Clearance via private message.

Departure Procedures

All aircraft can expect the following departure procedure:

RWY 18 - Turn right immediately direct 7930S8430W. Maintain maximum climb gradient until passing 8000ft.

Pushback

The WF ramp is uncontrolled. No pushback or start clearance required.

Taxi

Report ready to Union Tower when ready to Taxi

Takeoff

The runway is quite rough. We recommend you plan your takeoff to achieve the shortest takeoff run. (Higher flap setting, full power)
